Some women love to shop and can spend hours at the mall…me, I can spend hours at a leather store. Between the smell and the feel of quality leather, I can not decide which is more intoxicating.
Over 20 years ago, when I was braiding leashes at the kitchen table while my young children were at school, the ideal choice was kangaroo leather. And, if you have never had the luxury of training or showing with a kangaroo leather leash, you are really missing out. Buttery soft, but ultra strong, these are, BY FAR, my favorite leash to use.
But, later, I expanded into high quality flat leathers. Water buffalo and English Bridle leather are my go to choice for the base collars. I do not, as a standard, use cheaper latigo leather. If I want something custom, I want high quality materials. While I do occasionally machine stitch, with a machine specifically made for thick leather materials, most of my products are hand stitched using premium leather thread.
And then Biothane came along…wow! Great for sports where leather isn't the best option. Easy to maintain, waterproof, stink proof, ultra strong, what a great choice for many dogs!
